David Sommers
LPL Registered Principal
After graduating from Iowa State University in 1976, David began his career with Merrill Lynch and moved to Dean Witter three years later to assist in opening a West Des Moines satellite office. He joined LPL Financial in December 1992 and was the very first LPL Advisor in the state of Iowa.
David was instrumental in the opening and overseeing of the investment departments of Bankers Trust Co. in Des Moines and Premier Bank in Dubuque. After leaving Bankers Trust Co., David started Sommers & Danforth Financial LLC with Henry (Dan) Kinney in 2003. David joined this LPL Financial office in March 2020.
David and his wife, Angela, live on a small farm in Cumming, Iowa surrounded by their horses, goats, mini mule, dogs, cats, chickens, and guineas. He is the father of two beautiful daughters and is the grandfather of Ender James Dunegan, his first grandchild.
